How do I enroll my dog in camp or walks?

2. What type of training do you expect my dog to have prior to camp?

Camp is designed to enhance the training you have already started with your dog, we do not expect dogs to be "perfectly" trained when they come to us. We do require they have basic leash skills, are able to sit, stay and come when called. Off leash reliability is a huge plus and is required by a couple of our counselors! We will work with them to refine skills while adding in new commands and behaviors that are camp specific while helping them be able to regulate a calmer state of mind.
We expect dogs to be properly socialized before coming to camp. Dogs will be in close quarters with each other and need to have a high level of comfortability. Camp is NOT the place for reactive or under-socialized dogs or dogs with a high prey drive. They would need 1:1 behavioral work.

3. Will I be expected to follow-up with training at home?

Maybe! Some pups also may be required to complete 1-3 private training sessions prior to camp. We can also show you any skill building we have done with your dog so you can implement them on your own walks/hikes if you like.

4. I live outside the pick up/drop off zone. Are we still eligible for camp?

Possibly! Go ahead and fill out the application questionnaire and we will go from there. If you work in our pick up zone and can bring your dog inside, we can pick up and drop off from work! We can also pick up from a friend/relatives house.

5. Do you have a bad weather plan? What happens if camp is cancelled?

We DO NOT have camp in thunderstorms, blizzards or extreme cold/heat. We DO have camp in rain and snow. We try and let parents know the night before if camp will be cancelled but due to the unpredictable nature of the weather we usually wait till around 8am the morning of. Weather/sickness cancellations are at the discretion of your camp counselor.
We suggest ALL of our camp parents have a back up plan in case camp is unexpectedly cancelled. If we are able to do a make up day, we will but it's not always possible. You will not be charged if your counselor cancels camp. We ask parents to give us at least 12 hours notice if their pup will be out otherwise we charge for the day. Emergencies or illness are an exception.

6. What does your evaluation process look like for camp?

We start by reviewing your application. From there, we schedule a meet and greet at your home. If all goes well, we schedule a trial session with at least one of our current camper dogs. If that works out, we move forward with 4 probationary days. This is where we see which pack suits your pup best. After that, your dog is officially a camper!

7. What does the word Sniffari mean?

Sniffari is a play on the word safari. It is a fun outdoor adventure where your dog’s physical and mental needs are met and enriched.
